About Payment Token Transfer When merchants implement Bolt, their shoppers’ existing storefront accounts are often transformed into Bolt accounts as part of their go-live. It is possible to transfer: Shopper migration – shopper data ingestion Payment token migration – transfer of shoppers’ financial data tokenized by your Payment Service Provider (PSP) Both – shopper and payment token migration TIP Bolt supports payment token migration regardless of the number of existing payment tokens. Supported Processors At this time, Bolt supports payment token migration from the following Payment Service Providers (PSPs): Stripe Authorize.net Overview of Payment Token Transfers Contact Bolt Support Team to inform that you would like to perform a payment token transfer. Reach out to your Payment Service Provider (PSP) and request that they prepare a PCI-compliant encrypted file containing payment token information: raw PAN details card expiration month and year billing details Bolt’s team will create a PGP key pair (public and private keys) and share the public key with your PSP. Bolt’s team will provide your PSP with an SFTP link to upload the encrypted files. Once the payment tokens are transferred to Bolt, your shoppers will be able to access their saved card information in their Bolt accounts, just as they had in their original storefront accounts. TIP If you have already completed a payment token transfer but new accounts were created afterward, you can ask your PSP for another encrypted file with those shoppers’ payment tokens. Bolt can then assist with another round of migration. Alternatives If you decide not to perform a payment token transfer, consider the following alternative: Email Action: Shoppers are notified via email that the merchant is upgrading checkout to Bolt, and that this process requires them to re-enter their payment information. The email includes a pay-by-link button, which securely adds the card to their account.
