Overview
Tokenization as a Service (TaaS) enables merchants to leverage Bolt’s powerful shopper network and tokenization capabilities while maintaining their existing payment processing infrastructure. This solution eliminates the need for complete payment system overhauls, making it ideal for large and mid-size merchants with significant investments in their current payment processors.Key Benefits
Retain Your Payment InfrastructureKeep your existing payment processor and avoid the complexity and cost of complete payment system migrations. TaaS works seamlessly with your current setup. Access Bolt’s Shopper Network
Leverage Bolt’s extensive shopper network to increase conversions and reduce cart abandonment without changing your payment processing. PCI-Compliant Tokenization
Bolt handles all tokenization in a PCI-compliant environment, ensuring security while simplifying your integration.
How It Works
TaaS operates as a proxy service that sits between your application and your payment processor. Here’s the flow:1. Request Processing
Your application sends payment requests to Bolt’s TaaS endpoint with:- Your existing payment processor credentials.
- Bolt generated payment token for guest shoppers (or) credit card id of Bolt shopper when recognized by Bolt.
- Destination payment processor endpoint to which the payment authorization request needs to be routed to.
2. Token Exchange
Bolt’s PCI-compliant service:- Authenticates your request
- Exchanges Bolt tokens for raw PAN (Primary Account Numbers)
- Maintains security throughout the process
3. Payment Processing
The request is forwarded to your existing payment processor with:- Properly formatted payment data
- Your existing processor credentials
- Standard payment processor response
Seamless Integration: TaaS requires minimal changes to your existing payment flow while providing access to Bolt’s advanced capabilities.
Architecture
TaaS consists of two main services:Backend Services (Non-PCI Environment)
- Handles merchant authentication and request validation
- Endpoint:
POST /v1/tokenizer/proxy
Tokenization Service (PCI Environment)
- Performs token exchange in a secure, PCI-compliant environment
- Converts between Bolt tokens and raw PAN
